Beniganim City Council (Valencia, Spain) was in charge of managing the Bonavista Water Deposit. High operating costs and water supply problems required an urgent response.

The implementation of GoAigua’s solution for Energy Efficiency achieved, among other results, a 15% saving in the energy costs of pumps activation.

Local authorities and teams involved received the consultancy service for digital transformation during the whole process to overcome associated challenges.

Problem

Beniganim city council was managing the Bonavista Deposit inefficiently.

The lack of sensorization and digitalization was at the root of several problems, including high energy costs and water supply cuts due to a low water volume in the deposit.

Challenges

The aim was to optimize the deposit’s performance in order to reduce the cost of operating water pumps and provide a high quality service to the population.

The situation was characterized by the lack of tanks and pumps sensorization, energy consumption monitoring and information on water consumption.

The digital transformation required in this process exceeded the knowledge of the teams involved.

Applied solution

The implementation of GoAigua’s solution for Energy Efficiency was carried out in 3 steps:

  • Pumps and tanks were sensorized to collect relevant KPIs.
  • Energy consumption and the real price of energy were monitored. The Smart Metering solution allowed to measure and predict water consumption. All data were integrated into GoAigua’s Big Data & IoT Platform.
  • Tank filling was optimized taking into account energy prices, tank level and expected demand.

The consultancy service for the digitization of processes, technologies and transmission of knowledge played a key role in this transformation.
